Lake Charles – Arthur Leger, 95, passed away in Jennings American Legion Hospital on March 17, 2016. Arthur was born in Welsh on March 9, 1921 to the late Louis and Lorena Sonnier Leger. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping throughout the U.S. Cajun French music was his first love he played with many French bands and playing Cajun music with his nephew Garland Domingue was something he really enjoyed. He was also a member of CFMA and was inducted into the French music hall of fame. Arthur was married to the love of his life Ruth for 68 years 7 months before her passing in 2011. Survivors include his children, Phillip Leger (Sandi), Michael Leger (Sybil), Phyllis Wiley (Gerald); sisters, Lorraine McCrillis, Lorene D’Antoni, Wilda Broussard; 3 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his wife of 68 years Ruth Leger; parents; great granddaughter, Alexis Faith Mallett; sisters, Eva Domingue, Lydia Prudhomme, Iris Sonnier, Lela Mae Prudhomme; brother, Elmer Leger. Funeral service will be held Monday, March 21, 2016 at 11 a.m. in Johnson & Brown Funeral with Father Roland Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery. Visitation begins Sunday from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary at 6 p.m. and will resume on Monday from 8 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
