Barbara Inez Buller Savant

February 4, 1927 - March 27, 2022

Barbara Inez Buller Savant passed away Sunday, March 27, 2022, in her residence, with her family by her side, at the age of 95. She was a much-loved mother of Yvonne Fellers, Jeane Hatfield and Ernie Savant, and a dear sister to Dick Buller. She also leaves behind a brother-in-law, Disca Savant, Jr., sisters-in-law, Delores Buller, and Vicki Buller; grandchildren, Stephanie, William, Jamie, Jonas, Tobey, Dr. Shelly “Nickie;” great-grandchildren, Sidney, Jacob, Jennifer; great-great-grandchildren, Collin, Landon, Juliette, Jessie, Sophie, Lydia, Beckett, and Oliver. Barbara is preceded in death by the love of her life of 62 years, Frank Savant; parents, Charlie and Mary Buller; brothers, Cecil, Charlie, Jr., Andy, Bo, and David; sisters, Jewell, and Margie; son-in-law, Thomas L. Hatfield, and daughter-in-law, Linda Savant. She left behind a lot of stuff to her children, who have no idea what to do with any of it. Barbara always told the truth even if it was not what you wanted to hear. When she insisted that her children try new food, they learned to use the napkin and pretend to cough the food into it. They called it the “spit diet.” She lived a full life as a wonderful mother, homemaker, and clerk for postal services and retired from the Iowa Post Office after 20 years. Barbara loved her large family: cousins, nieces, and nephews. She loved to cook, clean house and was skilled in knitting, crocheting, and quilting. Barbara was a member of the Iowa Methodist Quilting Club. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 31, 2022, at 10 a.m. in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Very Rev. Ruben Buller, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Hebert Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation begins Wednesday in the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. and will resume Thursday from 8 a.m. until the time of service. Pallbearers assisting in her service will be grandsons, Jamie and Jonas Hatfield, William Neal, nephews, Andy and Joe Buller, and Kerry Savant. Honorary pallbearers are her granddaughters, Stephanie Neal, Dr. Shelly “Nickie” Savant, and Tobey Cloud. The family would like to thank a special niece, Connie Abbott for giving up her weekends to help care for our mom. Also, Jana Hatfield, and her sitters, Liz, and Selina for taking great care of Barbara. Special thanks to Heart of Hospice for the excellent care they provided.
