Donna Armstrong Lormand

Donna Armstrong Lormand, 69, gained her heavenly reward on August 23rd,in Okeechobee, Florida. She was born in Tullahoma, Tennessee on October 20, 1951 to Mary Katherine Armstrong, and Hershel Armstrong. She was preceded in death by the love of her life of 43 years, Felix Able Lormand. Left to cherish her memories are three daughters Paula Robin Darbonne (Dale), Dr. Felicia Lormand Florez (David), and Holly Lormand Hernandez (Miguel). Sons of the heart whom she raised from a young age were Thomas Andrew Maggio, David Maggio (Suzainne), and Daniel Maggio. She loved her numerous grandchildren, Joseph, Robbie, Lauren, Matt, Malachi, Miera, and Mikel, and great-grandchildren Ethan, Maison, and Brilee. A brother, George Howard Armstrong (Laura), and sisters Debbie Davis, and Karen Otterson. Donna was an advocate for the deaf community and an interpreter for the deaf for over 25-years. She helped change laws and the lives of persons with disabilities. She is currently published in the forward of her daughter's doctoral dissertation tribute as follows: "To my mother, Donna, I watched you tirelessly advocate for my sister Holly, and have a career as a interpreter for the deaf, and you are a part of my inspiration for going into the field of special education. Thank you for showing me how to be strong for others who may not have had a voice." She was also a faithful member of Apostolic Temple United Pentecostal Church, and enjoyed singing in the choir, and assisting in directing the sign choir. Cremation was under the direction of Buxton and Bass Funeral Home in Okeechobee, Florida. Memorial services are scheduled for Saturday, October 23, 2021 in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Green Oak Cemetery in Kinder, Louisiana.
