Lacassine– The light of our life: wife, mother, step-mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Linda Gossett Duhon, 73, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2015. Linda was born December 19, 1941 in Lake Charles. She was a graduate of LaGrange High School, a member of Our Lady of Seven Dolors in Welsh and was employed as a dental technician for 35 years. Linda and her husband, Carol, owned and operated Duhon’s Rope Can selling rodeo equipment for 10 years. Together, they followed the High School Rodeo Association circuit. She was a follower of Lake Arthur and Lacassine sports. Linda was the Spring Time Granny Festival Queen, Iowa Rabbit Festival Granny Queen and along with her granddaughter, Kelcie, were sister Queens of the Chili Festival. She, along with her daughter, Stacie, enjoyed volunteering at nursing homes. She was a loving caregiver and friend. Her husband recalls fondly her morning prayers to the Blessed Virgin Mary. They enjoyed traveling together and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her loving husband of 23 years, Carol J. Duhon of Lacassine; children, Rebecca Higginbotham (Michael), Richard Maneille, Jr. (Penny), Andrea R. LeCompte (E. J.), Stacie Thomassee (Freddie), Angie Montie (Todd), Jay Duhon (Debbie) and Clay Duhon; 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death are her parents, Harley and Amelia Gossett and sister, Rhonda Butcher. A Mass of Christian burial will be in St. John the Evangelist on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 12 p.m. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday from 4p.m. until 9 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home and continues Saturday from 8 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
