Lake Charles – Natalie Dougay, born in Rayne, on April 17, 1922, the daughter of the late John and Alida (Cradeur) Babineaux, passed away on April 28, 2021, at the age of 99. Natalie was a hard worker and as the oldest child, besides feeding the chickens, tending goats, and milking cows, she would “team up the mules” and help her dad work the fields. Through the years, she also worked at Pitt Gill, St. Patrick Hospital, Resthaven and Hixson Funeral Home. Natalie loved the purple color, cooking, eating crawfish, tending a vegetable garden, playing cards, fishing, watching sports, especially going to McNeese football games. She loved listening to Cajun French music and dancing. In her last few days, she even wanted to go dance at the Shamrock. Her greatest joy was being with her family and they recently gathered to celebrate her 99th birthday. Family and friends will miss her incredible wit. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray Dougay; son, Ronnie Dougay; 2nd husband, Nolan Bunch; siblings, Simon Babineaux (Bea); Alvin Babineaux (Myrna); Hubert Babineaux; Elise Richard (Aaron); Della Box (John); Vella Stacey (Joe) and son-in-law, Bobby Ryder. Natalie is survived by her children, Faye Alexander (Jerry); Hazel Ryder; Donnie Dougay (Penny); Dale Dougay (Jill); Debra Virgadamo (James); Randy Dougay (Molly); siblings, Anne Brewer; Yvonne Boudoin 11 grandchildren, Brad Alexander; Scott Alexander (Brenda); Bryan Thomas (Lynn); Jill Holsclaw (Kurt); Rob Ryder (Anna); Sherry Bennett (Greg); Amy Dougay; Kelly Matte (Cory); Marcie Braud (Tray); Rylee Dougay; Jessica Lamica; 23 great-grandchildren, with 1 on the way; 2 great-great grandchildren, with 1 on the way. Funeral services will be held in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa on Monday, May 3, 2021 at 10 a.m. Rev. Roland Vaughn, celebrant. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation will begin in the funeral home on Sunday from 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume Monday from 8 a.m. until the time of service at 10 a.m. The family requests that facial coverings be worn.
