Pervis Leonard

Pervis Leonard, born on September 7, 1945, son of the late Avery Leonard, Sr. and Lelia (Simon) Leonard, passed away on March 2, 2021, at the age of 75 at a local care facility. Pervis served in the U. S. Navy from 1963 through 1966. He retired from Bell City High. Pervis enjoyed arts, carpentry, cooking, dancing, ranching, and welding. His zest for life will be missed by all who knew him. Pervis is survived by five daughters, Sheree Richey (Jake), Shelley Johnson (David), Sonya Leonard and fiancé, Joseph Kennedy, Amanda Leonard, and Kellie McDaniel (Kenny); two sisters, Linda Mallett, and Dorothy Corbello (Paul); four brothers, Avery “Junior” Leonard, Jr. (Judy), David Leonard (Carolyn), Paul (P.J.) Leonard, and Russell Leonard (Linda); grandchildren, Destinie Woods, Breanna Harris, Kamron Woods, Morgan Ducat, Ethan Richey, and Kenner Gaspard and 5 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Myrtis Brittner and Nona Romero. Visitation will begin in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa on Friday, March 5, 2021 from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a Funeral service at 6 p.m. with Rev. Roland Vaughn officiating. Cremation will follow the gathering under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Burial of his cremains will be at a later date in Lacassine Cemetery.
