Lake Charles ~ Rodney James Duplechian, 73, passed away in his residence Monday, July 24, 2017. Born in Jennings on December 21, 1943 to the late Anias and Katherine Iris (Benoit) Duplechian, he was a graduate of Lacassine. He was a former member of the Manchester/LeBleu Volunteer Fire Department, past President of PACE Local 4-500 Maplewood and served on the Health & Safety committee. He retired from Cit-Con in 1992. He was a lifetime member of the NRA. One of his favorite things to do was take his family on vacations, watching old westerns, hunting and especially spending time with his grandchildren. Dupe was a great cook and loved dancing with his wife, Betty. Survivors are his wife, Betty (Hebert) Duplechian; children, Scott Duplechian (Shawnna), Amy Dowe (Blaise); sister, Melba Bagwell (Elijah); grandchildren, Shianne, Baily, Karly, Gracie Duplechian, Trent, Aiden and Campbell Dowe; niece, Susan Dupree (Brian). He is preceded in death by his parents; niece, Nancy Dupree and pet, Maddie. Services are Friday, July 28, 2017 at 10 a.m. in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home. Father Dismas Mauk will officiate. Private inurnment will take place at a later date in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday in the funeral home from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. The family would like to thank Harbor Hospice for their excellent care of Dupe. Also, special thanks to LeRoy Leger for being faithful in serving communion every Friday in their home. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your favorite charity.
