Rose Marie Smith

February 8, 1927 - March 15, 2018

Rose Marie Smith, born February 8, 1927 in Port Neches, Texas, daughter of the late Perry Frank and Stella Andrepont Major, passed away in a care facility in Copperas Cove, Texas on March 15, 2018 at the age of 91. Rose was a graduate of Iota High School and attended trade school. She was an executive secretary at Lone Star Cement Company and owned Jimmy C. Newman Fried Chicken. An avid reader, she also enjoyed cooking and traveling. Left to cherish her wonderful memories are her daughters, Catherine Claire Smith George (Robert), Missy Smith Mahan (Jim); sons, Marcus Evans Smith (Shari), Carroll Gregory Smith (Paula); grandchildren, Dr. Jody R. George (Amy), Lindsey Smith Holton, Ashley George Allen (Luke), Jonathan Smith (Jackie), Sara Smith, Morgan Smith and Jake Mahan and her eight great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Woodry Smith; parents; 3 brothers and 2 sisters. A Mass of Christian burial will be in St. Raphael Catholic Church of Iowa on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at 10 a.m. with Father Dismas Mauk as celebrant. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home – Iowa, from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. and will resume Wednesday in the funeral home from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.
